SpotGenius and the City of Virginia Beach Partner to Transform the Parking Experience
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Oct. 12, 2026) - The City of Virginia Beach is partnering with SpotGenius, one of the industry's leading Vision AI technology providers, to transform the parking experience for visitors to its convention center and sports complex with AI-powered smart parking.
The SpotGenius Parking Intelligence Platform gives city management, enforcement teams, and parkers a seamless experience from entry to exit. The system monitors every space across the seven surrounding lots and 2,430 total spaces 24/7, down to the individual spot, giving the city unmatched real-time data and operational efficiency.
Parking Session Monitoring
Vehicle traffic in the lot is monitored in real-time to provide accurate space availability, directing parkers to open spaces, reducing congestion, and making the overall parking experience simpler and more convenient.
Automated Violation Detection
When a vehicle exceeds its paid parking time limit or misses the grace period, enforcement personnel receive an instant text or email alert with the violation's exact location and time-stamped photo proof, sent directly to their handhelds.
Directed Enforcement
Knowing a vehicle's exact location eliminates the need for enforcement officers to patrol lots looking for infractions, letting them focus their time where it is most needed. This increases productivity and reduces wasted time.
Enforcement team safety also improves by directing officers to the violation area, minimizing time in the field and potential customer confrontations. ROI is maximized, and compliance rates are accurate and optimized for citation output. Enforcement workflows are further streamlined through integration with Passport.
Payment Compliance & Dynamic Pricing
The system automatically verifies payment compliance through an API integration with Honk. The same vehicle data also powers dynamic, tiered pricing by lot, giving The City flexibility to manage rates by demand and location without adding physical barriers.
Occupancy & Wayfinding
Custom digital signage delivers real-time space availability and clear wayfinding to parkers, reducing congestion and helping drivers find open spaces quickly.
Residents, visitors, and operational staff at these high-traffic facilities are already experiencing a more frictionless, streamlined parking experience.
